You've Chosen to go to uni… what now?

So you've chosen to go to university. That's great, but where do you start? Which uni is the best? What policies govern your entry? And more importantly, what course are you going to do?

There are so many decisions to make and it all seems to happen in a very short time. Not many people at the end of high school know exactly what career path to choose. How often do you come across someone your age who has wanted to be a vet or doctor since they were little? Sure there will be some, but the reality is things change, your circumstances change, your interests change, and so do courses.

Not everything to do with university entrance is a policy issue, but a lot of it - probably more that you think - is. After working through this section you should be well informed about the guidelines and options that will affect your choices. Policy can play a role in almost every aspect of university life. You will come across assessment policies, similar to the ones you may have dealt with in senior years at school, policies surrounding ENTER scores and even policies that you might not know exist! The better informed you are about the choices you can make and the policies that can influence them, the smoother your path will be.
