INTRODUCTION
The
Department of Education and Training (DE&T)
The department makes overall policies that affect all schools,
such as curriculum and assessment frameworks, support services,
guidelines for student well being, budget decisions and constraints
and overall regulations.
The
DE&T agenda aims to:
- “provide
and ensure access to high quality primary and secondary
education for Victorian children – including support
for non-governmental schools
-
ensure that all Victorians have access to high quality training
and further education services necessary for the social
and economic development of the State
-
link training and further education to employment, especially
in high skill areas and areas of skill shortage
-
ensure that government policies and service delivery reflect
and meet the needs of all young Victorians”
In addition, the department provides support and advisory
services to the Minister for Education and Training, and for
Education Services and Youth Affairs, as well as a number
of statutory bodies (organisations bound by governmental policies).
A similar body exists in all other state and territories.
Research
strategies have been designed to ensure a democratic approach
to the process of research and shaping policy development.
A range of advisory bodies/research consultants can be found
on the DE&T website at http://www.deet.vic.gov.au/deet/about/research/links.htm
