Parents Victoria

http://www.parentsvictoria.asn.au/

Parents Victoria is a democratic, state-wide organisation that represents parents of students in Victorian government schools. This organisation has no political affiliations.

Parents Victoria seeks to ensure that education “remains free, compulsory, secular and available to all”. Safety and welfare are also concerns. This association attempts to put an emphasis on the development of policy that supports the whole child – nurturing “respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms”.

As well as providing a forum for ‘Parent Groups’ across the state, Parents Victoria provides advice, support and information, the ‘Parent’s Voice’ publication, seminars and guest speakers.

Parents Victoria is the voice of parents with school children – a voice that is concerned with providing their children with the best educational experiences.

This organisation is focused specifically on supporting students and could prove a powerful and supportive ally in gaining momentum for policy creation or change.

A similar body exists in all other states and territories.
