The Queer Connection

Research shows that approximately 10% of all students will experience feelings of same sex attraction. How many students would that be in your school? Is your school supportive and appreciative of its sexual diversity?

'Same Sex Attracted Youth' or SSAY is a term that acknowledges that young people often aren't sure if they identify with words like gay, lesbian and bisexual. Grappling with sexuality can be a very difficult experience for all young people, and many need support.

Getting your school to question the way it supports and appreciates its sexual diversity is the first step towards having a healthy school environment. Think about the questions raised in this section; check them over with your friends; email them to your SRC members; or even your principal!
